Makeup Beauty Tip: Shelf life of makeup
- Makeup that is kept too long can be a breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to skin or eye infections.
- To remember when to throw out old makeup, use a permanent marker to label each item with the purchase date.
- Lipstick, eye pencils, powder, and concealer should be thrown out after a year. Cleanser, moisturizer, and liquid foundation only is good for about six months, while mascara and eye shadow should not be kept past three months.
